Ohlone-Portola Heritage Trail – Booth at Fish and Fleet

September 15 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

Ohlone-Portolá Heritage Trail

The San Mateo Parks Department is collaborating with county, state and federal agencies and tribal representatives, to develop a trail system that will recognize 10,000 years of the Ohlone peoples in San Mateo County, follow the footsteps of the Portolá expedition into Alta California, and document the discovery of the San Francisco Bay by the Spanish.

The Half Moon Bay History Association is participating in this milestone event by sponsoring an educational booth at this year’s Fish & Fleet Festival. We will be featuring a traveling exhibit developed by the San Mateo County History Museum which interprets the path that Gaspar de Portolá took during his expedition of the San Mateo County coast and the San Francisco Bay. The exhibit includes telling the history of the Ohlone people who lived in the area and who were instrumental in supporting the Portolá Expedition in 1769.

Please visit us to learn more about California’s early history and our amazing Coastside.
